# Monitoring

#### **Overview**

Monitoring is an important part of maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of DataSync and your storage solutions. We recommend collecting monitoring data from all DataSync information so you can easily handle problems if errors occur. Before you start monitoring DataSync, create a monitoring plan that answers these questions:

* What are your monitoring goals for DataSync?
* Which DataSync resources will you monitor?
* How frequently will you monitor these resources?
* Which monitoring tools will you use?
* Who will perform the monitoring tasks?
* Who should be notified when an incident occurs?
